San
Sebastian
is the
small
capital
of the
island
but has
a great
history.
This is
where
Columbus
stayed
before
starting
his
voyage
leading
to the
New
World.
Some
historic
buildings
like the
"Casa
Colon"
bear
witness
of this
time.
Today
the town
with its
7,000
inhabitants
is the
political
and
cultural
centre
of La
Gomera.Most
visitors
of the
island
arrive
at the
harbour
of San
Sebastian
on one
of the
big
ferries.
But many
of them
are
passengers
in
transit.
As soon
as the
last
ferry
has
left,
it's
getting
quiet
again in
this
rather
tranquil
town.
But San
Sebastion
has some
attractions
to
offer.
The two
beaches,
which
are big
ones
when
compared
to
others
on
Gomera,
are
suited
for
bathing
throughout
the
whole
year.
One of
the
biggest
yacht
harbours
of the
Canary
Islands
can be
found in
San
Sebastian.

beautiful

San
Sebastian

the
