In
Orvieto,
between
Tuscany
and
Latium,
in one
of the
most
beautiful
places
in
Umbria
for the
landscape
and its
testimonies
of art,
on one
of the
hills
that
surround
the
ancient
cliff,
one
finds
“Il Macereto”.
It is a
property
of 30
hectares
of woods
and
meadows
with a
stone
farmhouse
from the
early
1800s
that was
completely
restored
eight
years
ago and
is
furnished
with
great
elegance
by the
owners
who live
there
for
almost
the
whole
year. “Il
Macereto”
is about
4
kilometers
far from
Orvieto
Scalo
(the
railway
station),
6
kilometers
from the
tollgate
of the
highway
A1
Rome-Florence
and 6
kilometers
from the
center
of
Orvieto.
The
ground
floor of
the
house
consists
of: an
entryway,
living
room,
library,
dining
room,
kitchen,
wardrobe
and
toilet
for the
guests.
On
the
first
floor
there
are: the
Master
bedroom
with a
study
and
bathroom,
another
double
room,
and two
rooms
(one
with two
beds and
the
other
with one
bed)
with a
shared
bathroom
and
equipped
with a
terrace.
The
house is
furnished
with all
of the
appliances
and a
television
with
satellite
antenna.
A
large
lawn
surrounds
the
farmhouse.
The
adjacent
garden
is
marked
in
delineated
areas by
laurel
hedges.
One with
a 12 x 4
pool and
canopy
with
loungers
and deck
chairs,
another
with a
vegetable
garden.
A
pergola
with
vines
that
features
a stone
table
that
allows
one to
eat
outside.
There
are also
walkways
that
lead to
the
small
lake of
water
lilies
and to
the
water
garden
with the
greenhouse
of lemon
trees.
THE
SERVICES
PROVIDED
The home
has a
housekeeping
couple
that
lives on
the
premises.
The
manservant
provides
for the
representation,
pool,
table
service,
garden
cleaning,
and
weekly
lawn
cutting.
The
maid/woman
cook
takes
care of
the
cooking,
bedrooms,
kitchen,
washing
and
ironing.
The
service
personnel
have
Thursday
and
Sunday
afternoons
free.
A
gardener
comes
every
morning
5 days a
week.
In the
event
that
there is
a lot of
work to
be done,
a young
woman
can be
called
in order
to work
several
hours in
the
morning.
However,
she will
have to
be paid
separately.
The
housekeepers
have an
old car
at the
house by
which
they can
occasionally
go to
Orvieto
Scalo to
do some
shopping
at the
supermarket
(in
addition
to the
shopping
for the
market,
the cost
of the
gasoline
is
charged
to the
tenants).

SUGGESTIONS
FOR
VISITING
THE
SURROUNDING
AREA
In
addition
to
visiting
the
historic
and
cultural
sites
(the
Cathedral,
the
Etruscan
Museum,
St.
Patrick’s
Well,
archeological
excavations
etc.) in
Orvieto,
one can
find
several
enjoyable
restaurants
and
‘trattorias’
that are
listed
in a
brochure
given
upon
arrival
together
with the
addresses
of clay
tennis
courts
in
Orvieto,
near to
the
Cathedral,
of the
Lamborghini
Golf
Club -
Panicale
(about
48 Km
towards
Trasimeno
Lake),
and of
the
horse
riding
school. Short,
beautiful
trips
(within
the
range of
30/40
km) can
be made
to
Bolsena
Lake,
Civita
di
Bagnoregio,
the
springs
of San
Casciano
Bagni,
Città
della
Pieve,
Todi.
Other
splendid
itineraries
are
Perugia
(81 km),
Assisi
(106
km),
Siena
(117 km)
and on
the
road,
Lucignano
with the
famous
reliquary
called
“l’albero
d’oro”
(the
golden
tree)
constructed
between
1350 and
1400.
RENTAL
TERMS
The
rental
period
is for
at least
a week,
beginning
on
Saturday
and only
during
the
period
between
June 19
and
August
28,
2004.
The
weekly
rent
(supplied
upon
request)
– no
matter
the
number
of
guests –
includes
all the
services
(personnel,
hot and
cold
water,
electrical
supply)
including
also
telephone
for both
local
and
long-distance
calls. –
Calls to
mobile
phones,
international
calls
and
connections
to the
Internet
will be
charged
separately.
The cost
of food
and
drink is
charged
to the
tenants
for
themselves
and for
service
personnel.
The
maximum
number
of
guests
is 7.
Accommodation
is not
allowed,
even
occasionally,
of
people
in
excess
of this
maximum
number.

immediately
after
take the
left
road at
the fork
towards
Canale.

the
entrance
gate of
the
Macereto

there

trains
that
stop
hourly
at
Orvieto
Scalo
and run

distance
towards
