The

Carruba

Riposto,
a small
village
about 6
kms from
town,
inside a
citrus-tree
plantation
sloping
down all
the way
to the
sea, and
is
reached
along a
small
country
road
that
finishes
at the
villa.
From the
main
entrance
you go
through
a
hallway
and into
the
large,
enclosed
grounds
that
surround
the two
buildings
that are
separate,
but
close to
each
other,
and
which
make up
the
complex.
Both of
them
have
been
completely
renovated,
and have
differing
characteristics.
The
first
one was
the old
main
sicilian
villa
with
large
open
spaces
and high
ceilings,
and with
floors
and
fittings
in
valuable
local
stonework,
and a
view of
the sea
from the
bedrooms.
There is
also an
entrance
to the
large
panoramic
terrace
above
the
swimming-pool
area,
and the
building
has
living-rooms
of
particularly
high
quality.
The
second
part of
the
complex,
which
you
access
from the
garden,
is a
more
recent
building
equipped
with
air-conditioning.
During
the
restoration
even the
smallest
details
were
carefully
thought-out:
the
bathrooms,
the
wall-coverings,
the
antique
sicilian
pictures

the

The
beach

reached
in just

by car,

bathing

and very

July and
August
it is
fairly
crowded,
and you
could
use the
bathing
complexes
in
nearby
Taormina
(20 kms).
The
nearby
villages
offer
several
restaurants
with
excellent
cuisine
and
local
wines,
superb
cake-shops
and many
other
interesting
things
to see.
Within
half-an-hour
by car
are:
Taormina,
Acireale
and
Catania,
and you
should
not
forget
to visit
the
slopes
of Mount
Etna.
